Modernization of Access to the International Terminal – San Francisco Airport
Our strenghts:
- Optimization of passengers flows
- Seamless integration into the existing infrastructure: retrofit
- High-end stainless-steel finishes
- Improved comfort and safety
As part of the modernization of San Francisco International Airport, Portalp oversaw the replacement of the aging revolving doors at the international terminal.
Given the particularly heavy traffic—up to 1,500 cycles per door per day—the goal was to optimize flow efficiency while ensuring seamless integration into the existing infrastructure.
The project involved installing five 360° round secure entry portals while preserving the original structure of the former revolving doors. This retrofit approach enabled a fast and controlled intervention, while significantly improving the passenger experience: smooth circulation, the ability for people to cross paths without slowing down, and easier baggage access.
